WAVES

Waves are oscillating disturbances that travel through space and transmit energy from place to place, without causing any permanent change in the position of any physical matter.


Some waves can travel only through a medium that has particles in it: sound waves, for example. These are known as mechanical waves.


Other waves, such as light waves, can travel through a vacuum.
