Wholegrains are cereal grains that have not been refined: that is, they include the outer covering of the seed, the germ from which the new plant sprouts and the endosperm or kernel which is the seed's food store.


Wholegrains are good sources of carbohydrates and fibre in the diet and contain little fat.


They also contain B-vitamins and various minerals.
