Sheep are four-legged mammals with a typical woolly fleece, which have been domesticated for thousands of years because of their usefulness to humans.

Apart from harvesting the fleece, which can be processed into wool fibre, the meat, milk and skin of the sheep can be used.

Sheep are also used in modern scientific research. A sheep called "Dolly" was the first mammal to be produced successfully by cloning.
