Fundraising and Resources - Index - Area 7 at Project HappyChild

Project HappyChild - linking children all across the world

AREA 7 - Fundraising & Resources

massive Calendar of Events raising funds for children's charities

The Project HappyChild website has been built mainly due to the generosity of the people and organizations named below.

Cash donations and gifts of software and services have made it possible
for this site to expand well beyond what was originally envisaged,
and help and advice from people in many areas of the world
have enabled the different areas of Project HappyChild
to develop and integrate in often-unexpected ways.

We would like to thank everyone who has played a part in this [infinitely too many to mention!]
and would like to express our thanks to the following people particularly:

Martin Lockey Jan-May 1998 for building the first pages of our website
Kevin Nash January 1998 for funding our first year's Internet access with Force 9
and our domain name "happychild" for two years
May 1998 for giving us our first web-page-building software,
Corel WordPerfect Suite 8
(our thanks to Rob Paston who arranged this initially)
Microsoft June 1998 for giving us "Front Page" and "Publisher 97"
Martin at
Force 9 Internet
March 1998 for giving us an extra free 25Mb "home page" space, and to Force 9 who gave us unlimited web space from 1st Nov 1998

Michael Tipper November 1999 Donation towards internet access costs plus additional funds for an upgrade of our bandwidth in the year 2000 [to cover Project HappyChild's increasing traffic levels] - bandwidth upgraded Feb 2000

Mario Becroft
in New Zealand
June 2002 to
November 2010
Special thanks to Mario for a lot of complex programming work to generate 2500+ free worksheets for Spellings, Sounds and Meanings (completed 23.02.08) and for his help and technical resources provided in creating the first sets of exquisite wordsearch puzzles for the new Keywords for Learning area.
Chami April 2004 Our thanks to Gareth Horth for initial set-ups and our unremitting thanks to Chami (the author) for help in adapting/installing a cgi-only version of LiveCounter. Finding a script capable of coping with traffic levels here has been a long haul! and LiveCounter has been a wonderful discovery.
Amy at Systran October 2004 For enabling us to add free auto-translation facilities across the site for Arabic and Swedish.
Mario Becroft
in New Zealand
March 2005 - July 2006 A huge thank-you to Mario for creating the programming set-ups for the worksheets for our massive new area, "Any Language to English", and for outputting the first set of English-French vocabulary worksheets.
Translation and
Checking help
Many of our site visitors have offered help with translating and checking various dual-language sets and we are indebted to those who are giving up many hours of their free time to make this happen :) More details here; there will also be "Roll of Honour" entries as/when worksheet sets go up on line.
David Booker
RIP 15/03/22.
April 2009 to
November 2010
Our thanks to David for his help in accelerating the generation of pages for our new 3D Gridbuilding area (science). 3D Gridbuilding was put on hold some years ago because of the sheer amount of time required to generate new page sets as more information became added [see Area 16 overview]. There are now 3000+ pages on line and this area is "open for visitors". A unique insight into "what's what" in GCSE science.
David Booker
RIP 15/03/22.
June 2009 to
May 2016
Our thanks also to David for programming the means to accelerate the generation of the worksheets and overview pages in our Any Language to English area. Although the set-ups for complete new language sets were in place, actually generating the pages still involved a lot of work at this end. Now the worksheets from a translated-and-checked database can be produced in literally a matter of hours :D
David also helped greatly in getting our site page-counters 'fixed' on 05 May 2016 - see Latest News.

We trust that whatever Project HappyChild needs to continue and develop
will come from people who support what we are setting out to achieve.

for some kids there isn't much sunshine in their lives - will you help to change that? see 'Projects helping Kids' for worldwide children's charities you could raise funds for
