We originally created this area to make it easier to locate schools across the USA (eg see the school board listings for Alaska and Kentucky) ..... and gradually became aware of the significance of the individual *counties*, which form an integrated network right across the states of the USA.
Building this area has been fascinating! and towards the end we were able to locate links for all the Louisiana parishes and see the re-birth of New Orleans, as well as completing the area for the Great Sioux Nation, with its plans for installing wind turbines across the reservations, to provide the power for large areas of the USA.
Take a browse through the links from these pages - all the counties are linked not only by state but also *alphabetically* - so you can find out "how many Washington Counties" there are, how many Orange Counties, how many Madison Counties ..... each with their own individual character.
Not all counties have "official county websites" ... and some of those that do, have limited information, so we've selected links to those sites with as much information as possible, that give a real "flavour" of the individual county, many with a wide selection of photos.
The individual state listing pages also have links to the local County Association, the county listings on the state website, the state schools or education department, the State Local Gov county listings, state capitals, mottos, flags, Mayors, city websites .....
