| Versions: LEAF GREEN and FIRE RED Starter Pokémon This will help you get all the starters. First pick CHARMANDER as your starter, then advance in the game until you can trade, TRADE this Pokémon to your friend to save for you, then start your game again. Then pick SQUIRTLE as your starter, then advance in the game until you can trade, then TRADE this Pokémon to your friend to save for you. Then start your game again. Then pick BULBASAUR as your starter and advance in the game until you can trade. Catch two wild Pokémon (any, it doesn't really matter which). TRADE them with your friend for your CHARMANDER and SQUIRTLE that you asked them to save earlier. Save the game. Hey presto! You have all the starters. I hope this helps. Ps love your website!!!! | ||||||

| In ruby version, how do you get CLAMPERL to evolve into either of its forms like HUNTAIL? | ||||||
| There appear to be some differing views on this one. Everyone seems to agree that deepseascale is needed to evolve CLAMPERL into GOREBYSS, and deepseatooth for evolution into HUNTAIL, but apparently you can *either* find these items on the islands, *or* get them from Mr. Stern in SLATEPORT CITY in exchange for the scanner from the abandoned ship. Further to e-mails sent in by Jody G (Peking, China) - see #4508 - and Jordan Mc (cns), it has become clear that the info sent in re Nurse Joy and Pokémon Centres for CLAMPERL is not accurate (so sorry to anyone who wasted time testing this out). As far as we can gather from a lot of e-mails received, to get the scanner from the abandoned ship you need both Surf and Dive, and Mr. Stern will give you either deepseascale (for evolving CLAMPERL into GOREBYSS) or deepseatooth (for evolving CLAMPERL into HUNTAIL) [but he can only give you one or the other, not both]. You need to trade CLAMPERL holding the item, for evolution to take place. Note: Feedback appreciated. Please mention # 3245 if you reply :) | ||||||

So after you get the acro bike and the gogoggles on sapphire or ruby go to the desert. At the top is a mudslide, go to the mudslide on your bike and make sure you find something to hod the Up button and just go to sleep or go school and by the time you're ready to take your Pokémon they have grown a bunch! | As far as we can ascertain, TYROGUE evolves depending on its stats. If attack is higher than defence at level 20, it evolves into HITMONLEE. | Cheat # 3047 (the MEW one) does indeed work. However, I have some more info on it: 1) You have to make sure the SLOWPOKE trainer north of the bridge walks to you, meaning don't walk only one space in front of him. If you do the game will freeze. 2) You can work this cheat with any trainer who, as soon as you step down, left, right, or up, will appear on the screen and see you. But then after you battle the slowpoke trainer you must fly to the route that trainer was on, not always Route 8. 3) Any way onto the route you battled the first trainer on (see above) will work. 4) You can save your game without side effects after catching MEW and you can also trade him. Also, the pokedex info displayed in # 3092 is the Yellow pokedex info. The Silver info is: "Its DNA is said to contain the genetic codes of all pokemon, so it can use all kinds of techniques." I have a Mew in my Silver version (traded) and it works just like a normal pokemon, learning all the techniques my guide says it should. Thanks, Ben. PS: Transform rocks with MEW because it has awesome stats, unlike DITTO. | ||||||
| Our thanks to the many, many people who have written in recently to say that Cheat # 3047 works. Andrew B (cns) said he caught a level 7 Mew by weakening it down and using a great ball; Darios D. from Belgium says he got a Level 7 Mew and his game worked fine afterwards; Ace and Mick who tried without success on the N64 but then found it worked on the Gameboy; Jesse from the U.S. who caught Mew successfully ... and too many others to mention - sorry! We've included a couple more of the e-mails below, that give further info people say has worked for them. Note: Feedback appreciated. Please mention # 3249 if you reply :) | ||||||

| When I read Cheat # 3047, I found it to be a little lengthy, but I gave it a go. To my amazement, it actually worked! Except I would add one thing to make it clearer... the game freezes up if you go straight from flying from the gambler on route 8 to fighting the kid on route 25. You need to fight someone on route 25 who doesnt freeze the game (preferably someone closer to Bill's house). Then if you fight the kid your game wont freeze. I did this on the blue version and have done it three times and have gotten three mews. My name is Carmen, I am from the United States. My blue version was a plain old one I got from Costco. | ||||||

| I'm from Hong Kong and I am POSITIVE that cheat # 3047 DOES work. The trick is that the gambler sees you but it will be too late, note that the START button won't work. Go to the youngster but let him come to you or else if you step up to him this won't work, instead your game will freeze, so let him come to you and beat him. Note that the START button works again. Now go to route 8 (be sure to bring at least 10 pokeballs as I needed 7 with him when he was asleep); once you step into route 8, the menu will come up and press B to get attacked by wild MEW. | ||||||
| Sorry to anyone else we couldn't mention about the MEW cheat :) hopefully the three above will have cleared up any queries on this one. Note: Feedback appreciated. Please mention # 3251 if you reply :) | ||||||

| In leaf green I'm stuck in one of the islands, it's asking for two passwords for the rocket hideout but I only have one - where can I get the other one? And in one island there is a cave - I think it is called Altering cave and is there supposed to be something there? please answer me, I'm in desperate need of help. I would really appreciate this thanks - I lovvvvvvvvvveeeeeeee this website. | ||||||
| There have been a *lot* of e-mails about passwords and gems. From what we can gather, the first password comes from Team Rocket on One Island after fighting Moltres (by the cave where the Ruby gem is found). Later you fight Team Rocket at Ice Cave falls (where you meet the Lorelei), then you go to 7 Island and use CUT to get into the Ruin. Fall through the holes in the order given in the braille code - the Sapphire gem is stolen by a Team Rocket guy but he gives you the 2nd password (get the Sapphire gem back by beating Team Rocket on 5 Island). Re Altering Cave, Mystery Gift - from the clipboard by the shop-owner in PokéCenters, use "Link together with all" then save and re-start once you have it - is said to help you to change wild Pokémon. Note: Further Feedback appreciated. Please mention # 3253 if you reply :) | ||||||

| E-MAILS:
due to ongoing problems with mail getting through to here, we've made a * mail form * you can use to write to us. In the years since the Cheats area at Andy's Guide to Pokémon first started, there have been many mail problems - and quite a few computer crashes - and we'd like to say sorry to anyone whose messages have got lost along the way .... just remember you can *always* re-send, and hopefully now that we have a more guaranteed way for info to reach us here, we'll find a way to get most or all of the genuine info on line :) We very much appreciate the support that all of you give this site. |
