Having a Pokemon with DIG is one of the most useful things in the game. DIG takes you back to the last PokeCentre you were at from any indoor area, buildings and towers and well as caves. I have never needed an ESCAPE ROPE yet. I used Red version but I doubt it would be different for Blue or Yellow.

DUPLICATE POKÉMON: Requires extension cord. Works on all versions. First you connect two gameboys with the extension cord. One gameboy should have a good Pokémon and the other should have a very stupid Pokémon. Then you TRADE the good one for the bad one. Then come out of the TRADING center and the gameboy that got the good one *saves* their game and turns it off, and the one who just got the bad Pokémon turns it off *without saving*. When you turn both gameboys on again, both people should have the good one. This code always works. I tried it with Game Boy, Game Boy Pocket and Game Boy Color. I also tried it with the versions - Red, Blue, Yellow, Green, Gold, Crystal, and Silver, with Japanese and English.
