Cheat/Tip/Shortcut: Hi! I have a cheat to clone Pokémon. One of the two people that are TRADING gets a Pokémon that they don't mind losing and one of you gets a Pokémon you both want, like a Level 100 MEWTWO. Then as you are TRADING the Pokémon, when it says please wait, the person with the Pokémon you both want to have turns their Gameboy off in order not to lose it. The other person should by now have received a copy of the good Pokémon.
| Andy: I would advise that if you are going to try to duplicate a Pokémon that you only get once in a game, you practise once or twice with Pokémon such as PIDGEY or RATTATA. | |||

Cheat/Tip/Shortcut: One time when I was playing my red version I talked to the guy that was walking back and forth. Then I flew to CINNABAR ISLAND and SURFed up and down by BLAINE's GYM many times to find a MISSINGNO, but instead I found a level 141 SNORLAX. I then captured it with a MASTER BALL. I got it out of my PC and stated using RARE CANDYs on SNORLAX. It can only go up to level 255. If it's on level 255 and you use a RARE CANDY on it, it will just grow to level 0. If you use it in a Pokémon battle with a trainer in your gameboy it will grow to level 100. But if you use it in a battle out of your gameboy with another friend, SNORLAX will just stay at level 255. So use your SNORLAX and defeat your friends.
| Andy: Yes, this does work but SNORLAX is not the only Pokémon that has been found while doing this cheat. Different Pokémon seem to come up on different game packs. | |||

Cheat/Tip/Shortcut: Change your Purchased Drinks into TMs: Go to the CELADON DEPARTMENT STORE, then take the lift to the top floor, once there walk up the stairs to the roof, where you will find a vending machine selling drinks. There buy one of each drink: Soda, Lemonade and Water. Once that's done, talk to the girl near the tables: she will say she is thirsty and ask for a drink, give her a drink of yours, she will then give you a TM. Now repeat three more times, each time giving her a different drink.

Cheat/Tip/Shortcut: If you are having a hard time trying to catch a KANGASKAHN then all you have to do is catch a wild 'M' at level 0 and when it goes up a level it will evolve into a KANGASKAHN!
| Andy: "M"- MISSINGNO - yes this does work. I have done this before but it is dangerous in case your game cartridge jams (catching MISSINGNO). If you would like to try this it would be best to save before trying to catch MISSINGNO, because I believe you can re-set your gameboy wherever you left it without messing the game up. | |||

Cheat/Tip/Shortcut: I heard about the MEW Cheat with the truck and S.S. Anne and can't get it to work. I went on the S.S. Cheat/Tip/Shortcut: I have encountered MEWTWOs, GOLDUCKs, SNORLAXes, HAUNTERs, PIDGEOTTOs, ELECTRODEs, CHARIZARDs, and ABRAs whilst performing above cheat, and the Pokémon you catch depends on the name you give your character. For instance, call yourself XANADOS, and you can catch MEWTWOs and ELECTRODEs.
| Andy: Can anybody confirm this please. I am starting to wonder if it is the amount of letter characters your name has that governs what character/s you get whilst doing the MISSINGNO Cheat. When anyone writes in, from now on, please say how many letters were in the name you used whilst doing the MISSINGNO cheat and what Pokémon you got as a result. | |||

Cheat/Tip/Shortcut: HOW TO DEFEAT GYM LEADERS - BROCK: get your BULBASAUR or SQUIRTLE (I doubt you will make it with CHARMANDER) up to level 12-15, until it knows BUBBLE, WATER GUN (SQUIRTLE) or VINE WHIP (BULBASAUR). Go to BROCK - piece of cake! MISTY: raise your BULBASAUR till it evolves and get it up a few more levels (16-20), or if you caught a PIKACHU in VIRIDIAN FOREST, raise it till it is about level 19-20 and this will be as easy as licking a stamp. LT.Surge: if you caught a GEODUDE in MOUNT MOON, raise till its level reaches 20-22. Still got BULBASAUR? It should be able to do VINE WHIP now and LT. Surge will be a gonner! Erika: if you chose a CHARMANDER and raised it well, Erika should be wiped out. Did you choose SQUIRTLE? You are dead (I raised my SQUIRTLE to a level 46 BLASTOISE and I still lost!). BULBASAUR? Keep doing an attack that doesn't have anything to do with GRASS and you might win. Koga: BULBASAUR, SQUIRTLE and CHARMANDER should be good against Koga's venomous creatures, but I suggest you save the game after every battle with a trainer and go to the Pokémon Center straight away. SABRINA: go to LAVENDER TOWN and get a GASTLY or HAUNTER (either should be fine) and SABRINA's Pokémon will be ready to go to the POKÉMON TOWER! If you battle her with a fighting Pokémon, YOUR Pokémon will be ready for POKÉMON TOWER. BLAINE: Chose CHARMANDER? You're dead. Chose BULBASAUR? You're dead. Chose SQUIRTLE? BLAINE is dead! Giovanni: I suggest you use a WATER or GRASS Pokémon for this one. Your Pokémon should be level 40+ now.
| Andy: Thanks for researching these tips, they are very good and interesting to read. As far as I know they are all accurate. [See also #2053]. Well done! - however, GHOST Pokémon (eg GASTLY or HAUNTER) do have a weakness against psychic attacks. Cheat/Tip/Shortcut: Easy Level Gain - To easily gain experience, simply switch the Pokémon you want to train with the top Pokémon on your list. When you go into battle the Pokémon will pop out. Cheat/Tip/Shortcut: Fight Land Creatures in Water - To fight creatures that normally live on land, in water, go to the water around CINNABAR ISLAND or Seafoam Islands (the only place you can be randomly attacked while swimming.) Swim along the shore of any island and you will fight land creatures (you have to swim on a place where the square is half land and half water). Instead of fighting a set group of monsters in the water, you actually fight monsters from the last place you were. So to get SAFARI ZONE Pokémon, you need to go to the section of the SAFARI ZONE with that Pokémon, let your time run out, then go to the coast. Using this trick I have caught KANGASKAHN, SCYTHER, and TAUROS! | |||

Cheat/Tip/Shortcut: Other ways to get to a Pokécenter - TELEPORT Besides TELEPORTing, the following methods may also be used to get to a Pokécenter. Use DIG when in a cave; FLY that lets you fly to any desired town; also try SOFTBOILED that you can only teach CHANSEY. It takes some of CHANSEY's health to give to another Pokémon, and also restores CHANSEY's health by half during a battle. FLASH, used to light up Rock Tunnel and make an opponent's accuracy fall. CUT used to cut certain bushes and is used like SCRATCH in battle. SURF, which lets you surf across any body of water and is used like the HYDRO PUMP in battle.
