Project HappyChild is non-profit and this site is here to offer free educational resources, link up children and schools across the world, and also highlight the needs of less fortunate kids.
There's a "site links table" on all main pages (eg see the Welcome Page) which links to around 40 separate areas/themes. Newsletters tend to be somewhat intermittent :/ but the latest one is on line here, and the Latest Site News page will be updated whenever the remaining new material from outside contributors is uploaded (in stages) to the site pages.
Most recent updates (or those awaiting content from outside contributors) include:
[1] "dual-language worksheets" - see the Translators' page for details of the language-sets currently in preparation, or for which help is requested. Those on line already include French-English verbs + vocabulary (800+ worksheets), Romanian-English verbs + vocabulary (800+ worksheets), German-English verbs + vocabulary (800+ worksheets), Russian-English verbs + vocabulary (800+ worksheets), Polish-English verbs + vocabulary (800+ worksheets), Dutch-English verbs + vocabulary (800+ worksheets), Italian-English verbs (390+ worksheets), Arabic-English verbs + vocabulary (800+ worksheets), Urdu-English verbs + vocabulary (800+ worksheets), Turkish-English vocabulary (400+ worksheets), Spanish-English verbs + vocabulary (650+ worksheets so far), and Bulgarian-English vocabulary (400+ worksheets).
All we need now is more volunteers! we can generate all the 800+ worksheets and overview pages for a whole new language set within literally days of receiving the translated and checked databases. If you're a language professional (or a native speaker educated to degree level) and you'd like to help, please see the Translators' page for how to get in touch with us :) You'll be in good company - see the Credits page.
[2] Andy's Guide to Pokémon has been massively expanded (eg see the Red/Blue/Yellow pokédex) to integrate help sent in by site visitors since the year 2000, and the Platinum pokédex has also now gone on line. We're delighted to say that Andy came back to help with the final selection of cheats, tips, shortcuts and help messages, and the remaining new content for this area went up on line on 26th February 2011.
[3] Keywords for Learning - we have completed the adding of the new lists (and all the new index pages) for this area, for over 1600 word search puzzles in all. All the new puzzles are now under construction, and we'll put them up on line as soon as they're received here.
[4] 3D Gridbuilding - Science ~ now properly "open for visitors". This new area covers the basic factors of science - aimed at GCSE-level understanding, it's a series of many interlinked definitions of "what things are" - from atoms to cells, from hydrocarbons to sewage. Pages like "waves" or "molecules" show the sort of lateral linking that is now in place (automatically, by means of the programming behind the scenes) - check out the "BACK LINKS" on those pages, underneath the definition. See Area 16 for more details of how this whole science project came into being. More content is scheduled for the individual "elements" pages in due course, but the whole resource (over 3600 pages) is now complete as it stands.
[5] Writing Practice Worksheets ~ we've had a great many requests for worksheets to practise writing individual letters and numbers - but have as you know had a continuous schedule of pagebuilding to create all the other planned resources :/ We're delighted to say that we have finally been able to map out this area and make all the worksheets, and the complete set of 200+ Writing Practice Worksheets went on line just before the site reached 100 million visits.
[6] Times Tables Chanting Worksheets ~ the original 50 "Times Tables" worksheets have been hugely popular ever since this area of the site first went on line, but in response to requests we've added two "chanting worksheets" (51+52), for use if/when required.
All the educational resources we build on the site here are free, so that they're available to children anywhere. If you'd like to "give something back" (and if you're in a financial position to do so) we'd very much appreciate your support for the many charities who help children, shown in the Project HappyChild Directory and the international "projects helping kids" areas including the Americas, Europe + Asia, Australasia, and Africa.
Support would also be welcomed for Events raising funds for disadvantaged kids, and for crisis appeals anywhere in the world. Thank you :)
