19th November 1998: The Israel Cycle Challenge was a resounding success and it has raised in the region of Ł35,000. There were fifteen sponsored riders who took part from all different parts of the country and of varying ages. Altogether they cycled somewhere in the region of 219 miles over five days. From a kibbutz by the Mediterranean, they cycled to the Sea of Galilee (took a swim), travelling by the Lebanese border. From the Jordanian border they spent time at the Dead Sea ( had a float!) and from there went to the Oasis of Jericho and the Bible town of Masada, to reach the end of their Challenge, completely exhausted, in Jerusalem. At times the temperature reached 100 degrees and there were some arduous mountain climbs but, aside from a couple of punctures and broken chains, everyone made it back in one piece with many declaring it as the best experience of their life and hoping that they can join us on next year's Vietnam Challenge.
