In 1991, after the Iraq/Kurdish uprising, thousands of children died from the lack of food, water, medicine and shelter simply because no one was equipped for a disaster on this scale - also because funds were not available to prevent this tragedy.

During the war in Iraq, we moved our children from our orphanages and children's homes to a safe area, but there are thousands of other children throughout Iraq at risk and desperately in need of immediate food, clean drinking water, shelter, basic supplies and sanitation facilities to survive.

Orphanages in Baghdad have been looted or the buildings taken over; many kids have no support of any kind and are living in appalling conditions - and many children are now dying all over Iraq.

Our orphanages in Iraqi Kurdistan will have to close soon unless we receive money to maintain them.

Please help us! We have the support of local people both in Iraqi Kurdistan and throughout the rest of Iraq and can probably achieve far more with any donations than some outside organization.

We do not want to see a repeat disaster of 1991. The Kurdistan Children's Fund desperately needs your help for our humanitarian efforts in Iraqi Kurdistan and elsewhere in Iraq.
