Time is the way we measure changes - on Earth, or anywhere within the universe - by relating events to each other in a sequential order.
These changes may be big - for example, from "prehistoric times" to "the present day", by looking at rocks, fossils and other records - or small - eg the opening of a flower, which needs to be captured on a slow-motion camera.
We relate these changes to a man-made scale of time, which itself (years, months, days, hours) derives from the observed movement of heavenly bodies (Sun, Earth and moon).
