The temperature of a solid, liquid or gas is how hot or cold it is.
Temperature depends upon the amount of thermal energy (heat) present within the system, which is greater the more molecular movement there is.
There are various internationally-agreed temperature scales which are used to measure particular ranges of temperature.
For example, the centigrade scale divides the range between the freezing and boiling points of water into 100 degrees, and we use this daily, in weather forecasts etc.
