The solar system consists of the star we know as "The Sun" and all the heavenly bodies which are bound to it, in constant relationship, through gravity.
The main members of the solar system are the Sun and the eight planets surrounding it: Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars which consist of rock and metal, and Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune which are composed mainly of gas and ice.
There are also other heavenly bodies, such as Pluto (formerly classified as a planet, now no longer) and many smaller objects, including asteroids and even clouds of dust.
