Plasma is a form of gas in which a considerable proportion of the particles are ionised.
It can be regarded as a fourth state of matter, having the properties of a gas, plus conductivity, and also the property of being able to be influenced by a magnetic field.
These additional properties are due to the presence of charged particles (ions) within the plasma.
Plasmas are, actually, the most common state of matter found in the universe, as all stars are giant balls of plasma.
