do you have an original graphic we could add here, relating to 'g-force'? please see the main Gridbuilding page for details of how to get in touch

G-force is the acceleration due to gravity. Its value on Earth is 9.8 metres per second, per second.

An acceleration of much more than 1g (1 x the g-force) may be experienced in, for example, a plane accelerating hard.

This is because F = ma ( the force on an object = its mass x acceleration) so, the greater the acceleration, the greater the force experienced.

The term "g-forces" is often used to describe this increase in force that is experienced, rather than the amount of acceleration.
