An electrical cable (power cable) is a cable used for the conduction of electrical power. All cables consist of at least two conductors, wrapped in a sheath of insulating material.
The conductors are made of metal wire, usually copper, whilst most of the insulating materials used today are synthetic polymers.
If the cable is being used to conduct electricity at a high voltage, each of the conductors may, in addition, be separately insulated, for safety.
