Water vapour is water in its gaseous state: it is what clouds are made of!
It leaves the cloud as liquid water (rain) or solid water (snow) depending on temperature and pressure conditions.
Water vapour is less dense than dry air (which is why clouds float) and the water vapour in the atmosphere is a greenhouse gas, just like carbon dioxide, or methane.
When the amount of water vapour near the ground reaches a certain point (the dew point) the water will come out of the air by condensation, forming dew.
Water vapour within the tails of comets causes them to shine by reflecting sunlight, which allows us to see them from Earth.
