Sedimentary rocks are one of the three main types of rocks found in the Earth's crust. The other two are igneous and metamorphic.


Sedimentary rocks are formed by the deposition of layers of small particles of organic materials and minerals carried by water, ice or wind. These layers are strongly compacted over time, forming rocks. Examples of sedimentary rocks include limestone and sandstone.
