Electrons are negatively charged and move around the nucleus of an atom in orbits called shells. The volume contained by the outermost shell determines the size of the atom. Electrons are tiny and have virtually no mass.
Penny Rollo, England
An electron is a sub-atomic particle found in the atom within an electron shell. It has negligible mass and a unit negative electrical charge. [An atom has the same number of electrons as protons, making it electrically neutral.]
