The part of the central nervous system which is found inside the skull and which has overall control of nervous activity and response, the brain also thinks, reasons, remembers, and generates emotion and understanding.
These parts of brain activity have always been mysterious, and scientists are divided as to whether what we call "the mind" is simply the result of what happens within the brain - the chemical and electrical activity - or whether, in fact, the mind exists in the space outside the brain tissue, and the physical structure we see inside the skull acts as a downloader for the non-physical mind, into the body, a bit like a computer receiving wireless information.
