Air is a mixture of gases, including nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide, methane and noble gases, which surrounds the Earth, held there by gravity.


The gases in air can be separated by the fractional distillation of (liquid) air.


Air also contains water (as water vapour) and may contain pollutants.
