Welcome to the CHINESE (simplified characters) area at Project HappyChild. Thanks to the translation (and checking) help currently being provided by people across the world (all giving their time and expertise entirely free of charge) we are in the process of building a *huge* area of free translation worksheets for children and students to use, across an increasing range of languages.
Chinese is one of the languages that is currently being worked on - see the Translators' page - so we're opening up the Chinese area now, as a first step towards making the English-Chinese-English worksheets available in due course.
The vocabulary databases for both Simplified and Traditional characters have already been translated, and are currently being checked :)
The verbs database for Simplified characters has been translated, and Chinese Pinyin is planned to be added, for the verbs, initially. The verbs database for Traditional characters will be translated next.
Offers are still required for checking the verbs database (and Pinyin) for Simplified Characters [please e-mail penny2012 (at) happychild.org.uk , if you can help], but an offer has now been received for checking the verbs database and Pinyin for Traditional Characters.
Simplified Chinese characters are the official written language in Mainland China, so most Mandarin speakers will use them, but in places like Hong Kong (where Cantonese is usually spoken) and Taiwan, the Traditional Chinese characters are still used for the actual written language. However, some Mandarin speakers can read Traditional characters, and some Cantonese speakers can read Simplified Characters.
If you are learning Mandarin you will most likely require the worksheets for Chinese (simplified characters) which will be linked from the page here, whereas if you are learning Cantonese you will probably require the worksheets for
Chinese (traditional characters) which will be linked from the page here.
