PLAYLINK

What makes an outdoor space a good place to play? Too often poor design robs children of vital opportunities to learn and be healthy and wastes public money.

PLACES for PLAY, by Sandra Melville, is a new publication which illustrates some of the many creative ways in which children's play outdoors is being catered for. By demonstrating what is possible, it is intended to inspire a more imaginative approach to the creation of play spaces and public space, one founded on understanding the needs and wishes of children.

Action for Sick Children

Herbie's Heroes is a comic designed to show children some of the things that may happen when they go to hospital or have an operation. You can order this comic directly from Action for Sick Children.

Short educational videos have been specially produced to help take away the fears and preconceptions that many children have about going to hospital. They have been directed at children and are on their level. It is our intention to provide factual and informative viewing which shows that going to hospital does not have to be an unpleasant experience or one to be afraid of.

Foundation for the brain injured child

"Over the past 9 years the Foundation has developed a unique information unit. The archives, originally sourced as research materials, or in response to external enquiries, now serve as a comprehensive collection of information about all aspects of brain injury and related matters. Our resources are freely available to parents and families of brain injured children, professionals working in the field, or in fact anyone with an interest in the subject. Our library holds approximately 3000 titles, about half of which are available for postal lending. We also subscribe to a number of Journals and hold back-issues to many of the important titles focusing on paediatric neurology, and we can supply photocopied extracts from the reference section for personal study."
