The Project HappyChild Directory of organizations helping children

It's often difficult to know where to find help when your child has a problem or an
illness. The
Project HappyChild Directory brings together in one place a large
number of organizations in the UK helping children in many different ways - with
widespread conditions like asthma, eczema and dyslexia; help for kids in hospital;
where to find info and support groups for rare syndromes, "wishes" for children with
terminal illnesses; and much more, including help available for gifted kids, and riding
for disabled children using donkeys rescued by the Donkey Sanctuary.

The purpose of this Directory is two-fold - to allow parents and teachers to find
help needed for children - and dually to request your help in
fundraising to ensure
the Charities in the Directory can continue to help children in so many different
ways. Your support *does* make a difference :)

My personal thanks must go to the following people who have been part of making this Directory available on the Internet: Martin Lockey, Kevin Nash (Invek), Jackie Milton, and Kevin at Force 9 who did the complex html conversions for the original Directory pages. Also I'd like to thank Mick Granger for his moral support and encouragement over several years of bringing this whole Directory together [against, at times, seemingly overwhelming odds!], and Steve Mister, Chris Asplen (Cambridge Cable), Peter Crew (Nynex) and others at many cable companies, and George & Felicity Fenton and NB Stationery (Harlow) for paper and print cartridges provided for the initial stages of setting up the Directory. Equally the many people working for the organizations which appear in this Directory, for initial text copy, updates, and checking of several sets of proofs, and for their ongoing help in providing updates and details for linked areas of this website. And, finally, Chas Stacey, whose unwavering support and encouragement from 1993-1995 helped to make the Project HappyChild Directory a reality.                                            Penny Rollo  24th May 2007
