DISK 87.

Another curious combination of letters is where T is followed by I and another vowel. This usually gives us the sound "sh", as in:

ration * rational * national

nation * titian

There are no particular rules as to when letters in the middle of words, like the A, make an "a" or "a" sound! It is usually fairly easy to work out which is which, from the context in which the word is found.

Now you read the words on this disk:

(pause) Yes, they are:

ration * rational * national

nation * titian
