ELEMENTS FROM THE PERIODIC TABLE
I received an E Mail from a visitor to the site explaining how to remember elements from the periodic table. This is what it said:
"This is not exactly a mnemonic example but it did help... When I was in High School, we were asked to remember the periodic table of the elements up to Argon. This is easy for some but my cousin and I struggled to find an easy way to remember it. The way we finally ended up remembering the sequence is by changing the sequence to a rhyme that went like this:
Ha Ha Hee.
Ok, so it doesn't make much sense, but it seemed easier to remember this way. This is how the poem translates to the element sequence:
Ha Ha Hee --> H He
Libeb Canofnee --> Li Be B C N O F Ne
Namgalsi Pasclar --> Na Mg Al Si P S Cl Ar
(If you want to know what these symbols mean, please see the Atomic Numbers and Symbols page in the Infinite Facts area of this site)
All you have to remember are the breaks after H, Be and Mg."
So you see that this is something that has worked in practice. It may not make sense to you, but it worked for Yves. These things don't need to make sense, just so long as they serve their purpose. Well done, Yves - and keep up the good work! If anyone else has any similar mnemonics, then please let me know.
