Effective Memory Techniques in a Week
On the back cover of this book it says:
"A powerful memory is an essential business tool. For most people, learning is a chore and remembering a constant battle. The mind's failures lead to a loss of confidence, disorganisation, missed opportunities and wasted time. But everyone has more than enough brain power to accomplish any mental task. All it takes is a little understanding of the mind's mechanisms, and practice in the core memory techniques."
This book, written by two broadcasters and trainers in these techniques (one a former World Memory Champion) takes you through week long programme which on a separate day each, looks at your frame of mind, your brain, how to think like a genius, how to remember anything, learning to learn, the application of memory to your people skills and the importance of becoming a lifelong learner.
It is a concise, easy to read and humorously illustrated book that would comfortably take you only a week to read if you applied yourself for just 30 minutes a day. It is packed with many helpful and practical tips that you can apply straight away.
Although aimed at the business market this book would be an excellent guide for anyone who wanted to improve their memory. Just be aware that although it may only take one week to read and learn about the techniques, it will take many more weeks to practise the skills and integrate them into your life. Nevertheless, this book is a good place to start.
Effective Memory Techniques in a Week by Jonathan Hancock and Cheryl Buggy ISBN Number 0-340-74241-0 is published by Hodder and Stoughton for the Institute of Management at Ł6.99 and can be found in all good bookstores.
